Humberto Fontova, writing at Townhall, shares the latest UN outrage. Honoring Ernesto Che Guevara, again. A mass murderer, racist, bigot, and hater of homosexuals. Which, I believe, violates several of those Human Rights things in that charter of theirs.
Giant portrait of the mass murderer Che Guevara now on display at the United Nations in Geneva, home of its ironically-named Human Rights Council,” Neuer wrote.
-Hillel Neuer, the executive director of U.N. Watch
Fontova reminds us that this isn’t the first such honor. The UN loved him in ’64. Then honored him in 2013 by adding “his writings in its hallowed “Memory of the World Register.”
Guevara, we are reminded, burned hundreds of books and documents while Cuba was imprisoning the countries librarians.
The bonfire was accompanied by the beating and jailing of the owners and purveyors of these works. The Castroite bonfire was fueled by such works as Orwell’s Animal Farm, the works of Martin Luther King and the UN Declaration of Human Rights.
Nothing about this relationship makes sense unless it is irony you are after. The UN says it is a protector of human rights but honors a butcher and racist. It claims to support knowledge and the free flow of ideas but hails a founder of a nation that jails and tortures reporters. So what’s the attraction for the UN? Socialism? Fontova’s got that covered as well.
“Violence is inevitable! To establish Socialism rivers of blood must flow! If the nuclear missiles had remained [in Cuba] we would have fired them against the heart of the U.S. including New York City. The victory of socialism is worth millions of atomic victims!”
Hatred is the central element of our struggle!…hatred that is intransigent…hatred so violent that it propels a human being beyond his natural limitations, making him violent and cold- blooded killing machine…We reject any peaceful approach. Violence is inevitable. To establish Socialism RIVERS OF BLOOD MUST FLOW!….The victory of Socialism is well worth millions of atomic victims!”
That’s classic Che the honoree on the wall at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
