WMUR: Bill O’Brien Mulling Challenge to Jeanne Shaheen for US Senate

WMUR is reporting that former New Hampshire House Speaker Bill O’Brien is considering a run for the US Senate. Democrat Jeanne Shaheen is up for re-election in 2020 and O’Brien says he’s been asked to think about challenging the sitting Senator.

“People have come to me and have talked to me about it,” O’Brien confirmed. “I’ve certainly enjoyed my time away from the Legislature, but there is a lot more work to be done. There are lessons in New Hampshire that could be taken to Washington.”

Any challenge would be, well, a challenge. Shaheen is an entrenched political insider. She’s swampy. Shaheen has gobs of cash on hand and will get insane amounts of third-party support. But she also supports killing babies born alive. And while New Hampshire Democrats may not care about things like that, a third of the electorate is undeclared.

Issues like open borders that lead to New Hampshire’s opioid epidemic could peel away middle-of-the-road support. Could it be enough?

No idea. But the left reviles Bill O’Brien in New Hampshire. He’s their Trump before we had Trump.

The campaign would be ugly, dirty, and nasty. It would expose every hateful bone in their little Socialist Democrat bodies for everyone to see. On a big stage.

I hope he runs.
