Support SB 395 – Access to Electronic Records Under the Right to Know Law

Max Ledoux from Tuftonboro, New Hampshire has an excellent video testimony about SB 395, legislation that would,

“…make clear statutorily that government entities can not charge for electronic copies, but would not change how the courts have already interpreted the existing Right to Know law.”

The bill is necessary because, as David Saad from Right to Know New Hampshire observes in his testimony, while some public bodies are cooperative (with regard to providing electronic records),  other public bodies choose to not be responsive. Instead, they erect unnecessary barriers in order to thwart the public’s right to know.

In Tuftonboro, their effort to thwart Max from receiving one email chain amounting to 26 pages (they sued him) cost taxpayers over $20,000.00 dollars.

Your Support can help advance this legislation and save taxpayers a small fortune. The Bill is currently in committee in the NH Senate.

The video transcript is available at Tuftonboro.net.
