Since the US Dept. of Education was created in 1979 under President Carter, against the will of the American people, we have spent more money on education with no increase in academic achievement. Education in the US pre-1965 was the best in the world. And it held that position for decades. Once the federal government started interfering we started to experience a downgrade in our top academic place in the world. President Reagan was elected on his promise to abolish the department but he was misled and trusted the wrong people and his promise was never realized. The time is right for us to shut down the department and return American education to the control of Local Education Areas and parents. PLEASE show your support for HR899 and sign this petition.
