The Speaker took sides, but…

Following up on Steve’s post about New Hampshire House Speaker Shawn Jasper taking sides in a few Republican House primaries, let’s see how that’s working out.  The Jasper for NH committee filed a September 7 report of independent expenditures in eight districts, targeting certain GOP incumbents by omission – in Merrimack, for example, the committee’s mailer touted a slate of eight candidates as “The Merrimack Tax-Fighting Team,” pointedly omitting incumbent representatives Jeanine Notter and Josh Moore.

Preliminary results show that Notter and Moore won nonetheless.

Other GOP incumbents who have won their primaries today, and whose opponents received Jasper for NH support according to the September 7 report, include Michael Brewster of Pittsfield, Bart Fromuth and Keith Murphy of Bedford, Al Baldasaro of Londonderry, and J.R. Hoell and Bill Kuch of Merrimack County district 23 (Bow/Dunbarton).

On the other hand, incumbent Katherine Prudhomme-O’Brien of Derry, who did not rate any independent expenditure by the Speaker (unlike some of her fellow Derry candidates), appears to have lost her primary.
