A Global Warming Crossroad for John Kerry

john-kerry-scratching-headIn 1981 the United States Supreme Court concluded that “the Constitution does not mandate comfortable prisons.” And why would it? Prisons are, well, prisons. But that’s not stopping inmates and others from filing lawsuits claiming cruel and unusual punishment because so many prisons in warmer parts of the US are not air conditioned.

This must be driving Sec. of State John Kerry crazy. On the one hand, he’s committed to convincing people that global warming is a serious threat. He’d probably put deniers in prisons where Global warming would make those prisons more uncomfortable. But the Secretary of State has also declared that air conditioning is a bigger threat to the world than ISIS.

What’s a John F. Kerry to do?
