Wayne Lesperance, a political science professor from New England College, said Sununu’s position may be an attempt to distinguish himself from the other GOP candidates, though at risk of angering conservatives.
“Voting to support its funding alienates the conservative base, which happens to be the group most likely to turn out in a GOP primary,” according to Lesperance. “This vote has the potential for being a make or break issue for conservative voters. I expect his opponents will make serious political hay out of it especially since he’s changed positions since the last vote.”
Chris Sununu at least feigned the possibility of an alternative to rubber stamping another New Hampshire taxpayer bailout for Planned Parenthood. Democrats unite behind the idea that a private company with global reach that spends millions on lobbyists every year, was entitled to over half a million dollars from Granite Staters.
You can focus on the abortion issue or the women’s health angle, but at the end of the day, this is a crony bailout by connected Concord Insiders. Fiscal conservatives, Libertarians, socially liberal Republicans, heck –Taxpayers should be furious.
