Because – Guns!
Situated in the prominent city heart of Mission Street, High Bridge Arms was founded in the mid-1950s by Bob Chow, who competed in the 1948 Olympics 25-yard pistol shooting event. By some accounts a Bay Area institution, it has long been a tourist destination – specially for members of the law enforcement community who visit the city.
The City was “going to force them to record videos of every customer in the store and keep those videos available permanently.”
San Francisco has a national crime index rating of three. This means that three percent of cities in the US are actually more dangerous than San Francisco with its one gun shop, soon to be no gun shops, which someone seems to think will help them turn the corner.
City Supervisor Mark Farrell, who publicly requested that the city attorney’s office draft the new restrictions two months ago, said “easy access to guns and ammunition continue to contribute to senseless violent crime here in San Francisco and across the country.”
San Fran, with its mountain of regulations and restrictions against lawful ownership of firearms has more than double the reported rates of violent crime in California, with rates for murder, robbery, and assault well above the national average. Property crime is also double the state average.
“I left my heart, lung, and four quarts of blood in San Francisco.” But have no fear. The liberals have this figured out. If they keep protecting violent criminals and illegal aliens, or both (who can commit crimes with or without bats, sticks, pipes, fists, or even knives or guns) but continue to prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves, crime will….what?
Oh, and sure, High Bridge Arms could probably win in court, even in California, but that’s expensive, time consuming, and the commies would just come at them again, and again, and again until they closed up and moved out.
Regardless of your opinion about any relationship between guns and crime, if you condone this sort of intimidation by the government you wont blink when they inevitably apply this power to something that matters to you but not to them. If there is anything left.
And crime? Well, there’s still room for decline and with only 3% of cities in worse shape it’s a goal within reach.
Note: New Hampshire Democrats will not, unfortunately, be packing up in droves to move to this liberal utopia on the left coast. Instead, they will strive to emulate that path to “glory” here and everywhere they can. It is always and forever about them using the guns of government to force their worldview on you whether you want it, like it, or not.
