Do You Know What Would Be Unprecedented, President Huot?

Keene State Students give back to the community

The president of Keene State college has written a letter titled ‘Unprecedented.’  Allow me to summarize.  Dear taxpayers.  We need more of your money or we’ll have to charge other people’s parents more for the cost of what we are passing off as a college education.  And in closing…

We have a vision. To keep education affordable and accessible for our students. To prepare them to meet a world of challenges and opportunities that can’t even be imagined today. To work in partnership with our Legislature, businesses, donors, parents, alumni, and the citizens of New Hampshire, to ensure that New Hampshire becomes the model for higher education. Now that’s unprecedented!

Anne E. Huot, PhD
President

Asking taxpayers to continuously bail out your failed business model every year is not unprecedented.  Tuition rates that grossly exceed the rate of inflation year after year is not unprecedented.  Getting a college president or its governing body to manage its operations without government mandated taxpayer bailouts…that would be unprecedented.
