NH Democrats make fools of themselves demanding this Republican resign

foolOn Tuesday, the New Hampshire Democrat Party released a statement demanding Representative Frank Guinta call for House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) to resign. Why? Apparently 12 years ago, Scalise spoke at a gathering of a group that had ties to a white supremacist group. Scalise admitted he spoke at the gathering but didn’t realize their ties and has apologized.

The absolute irony and outrageous hypocrisy of Democrats like Ray Buckley, Chair of the NHDP, is they revered Democrat Robert Byrd, Senator for years, who was actually aleader in the Ku Klux Klan. The man was heavily involved in the Klan for years yet Democrats loved him. Scalise speaks at a gathering of constituents, not knowing their ties, and Buckley demands he resign?

Not to mention Reverend Wright. Remember him? Obama was an active member of Wright’s Church for 20 years. Wright is a racist, anti-Semite who hates America. Obama didn’t leave the church until the news got a hold of some of Wright’s ‘preaching’ but he never disowned Wright. 20 years Obama was in that hateful church yet Democrats didn’t mutter a word.

The hypocrisy from NH Democrat Party and its Chair Ray Buckley:

“It’s deeply disturbing that Congressman Steve Scalise of Louisiana, who serves as a member of the House Republican leadership team, admitted that he spoke at a gathering of a hate group founded by Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke,” said New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley. “Frank Guinta’s silence on the alarming revelations about House Republican leader Steve Scalise is even more troubling given Guinta’s own ethical lapses, for which he was named one of the most corrupt members of congress.”

“Granite Staters deserve to know whether Frank Guinta condones Congressman Scalise’s outrageous behavior, and Guinta needs to immediately demand that Scalise resign his position in the House Republican leadership,” added Buckley.

Buckley didn’t care that Robert Byrd was an active member of the KKK. Buckley never said ‘boo’ about Obama sitting in what is probably the most hateful and racist church in America. Buckley also doesn’t mention that Duke used to be a Democrat or that the KKK was founded by Democrats. He conveniently leaves out all of these things and attacks a man for speaking at a gathering 12 years ago. They hypocrisy is thick with these people.

Meanwhile, the left wing site Slate has discovered that Scalise did not attend any big white supremacist event. He was actually speaking to a small group of people before the event even began. Newsbusters reported on the Slate story yesterday:

Kenny Knight is a longtime associate of David Duke, the former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan who ran for governor of Louisiana in 1991. He’s been a key player in news that broke on Sunday that indicated Scalise addressed the white supremacist convention of the European-American Unity and Rights Organization when he was a Louisiana state representative in May 2002.
Knight said on Tuesday that it’s “totally incorrect” to say Scalise spoke at that convention.

“He spoke early in the day to a contingent of people, prior to the conference kicking off,” Knight said. “He was not there as a guest speaker at the conference.”

Knight said he set up a morning event for his own civic association in the hotel space before the EURO conference started. Though that event was in the conference’s hospitality room, it wasn’t at all related to the EURO event, he said. “It was my room to do what I want with it,” he said.

Knight invited then–state Rep. Scalise as well as a representative from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and a person from the American Red Cross to speak to the civic association at the hotel. Knight said he thinks the Red Cross speaker was from a local chapter but didn’t remember specifically. He also said he didn’t remember the names of either of the other speakers. The representative from the sheriff’s department spoke to attendees about a neighborhood watch program, and the person from the Red Cross discussed CPR techniques. Scalise also spoke.

So Scalise never spoke at some huge white supremacist convention. He wasn’t “cheerleading” for neo-Nazis nor did he even speak about race. The man was a representative at the time and was asked to speak at a gathering by his constituents. It’s completely credible that he may not know their ties and it is completely credible that he’d barely remember the event since it happened 12 years ago.

Once again, Democrats, especially those in New Hampshire, make fools of themselves with their outrage over something absolutely ridiculous; especially when you compare it to the truly outrageous behavior and history of members of their own party. This isn’t something new for Democrats. They feign outrage all the time over various things Republicans do and always, always remain intentionally ignorant of their own behavior.
