The news is good this morning. The Market Basket employees non-union strike has been successful. The leadership-whose ouster of the previous CEO resulted in a system wide strike, has finally agreed to a buy-out from the CEO they booted.
Arthur T. has returned to head the board, the employees are going back to work, and I can end the serial price-screwing I’ve been getting from Market Basket’s competitors, and return to the savings I previously enjoyed.
As I understand it, some shelves are already filled, or getting there, so goodbye Shaw’s insanely high prices, hello ‘More for my dollar!’
And while that is great, it is not the best thing. A non-union strike won employees and managers something they wanted without the need of a huge union, overpaid union bosses, and their dues-sucking exorbitant operating budgets and one-sided politics.
