This is timely, because I am polishing up a post titled “The Battle of Competing Resentments” that plays well with the real world example of Carl DeMaio. DeMaio is running for congress. He’s started and sold two businesses. He has been elected to his city council. He has the kind of pull-yourself up life-story most Democrats have only pretended to have, and he is homosexual. He is also a California Republican, running for office in California who has tried to focus on fiscal issues and things that matter to all americans but the “tolerant” left can’t tolerate his being a Republican so they’ve made the race about his being gay.
One false attack drew the attention of the San Diego Ethics Commission. An anonymous left-wing group funded a SuperPac and sent mailers of DeMaio Photoshopped next to a drag queen to neighborhoods with a majority of elderly and African-American voters, knowing that such a photo would depress support for DeMaio.
…“I’ve found more tolerance, acceptance and inclusion from social conservative groups who have to reconcile that I’m a Republican who happens to be gay…versus the intolerance the LGBT leaders see me as a gay man who happens to be a Republican,” DeMaio said.
The Liberal Democrat leadership and their fringe victim-class ring leaders are prejudiced against anyone who refuses to dance to their piper, and doubly so if they dare to support contrary political ideas in public. In their eyes being gay, successful, and a community leader do not matter if you do not drink their Kool Aid ®.
So, as we have properly observed so many times, identity politics has nothing to do with the identity. It matter not if you are gay, or black, or a woman, or an immigrant, or blue-collar, or a minimum wage worker, or a senior citizen, or middle class, or if you are a single mom, or a farmer, or any combination of any sub-division on the progressive plantation. These are just left-wing caricatures used to pigeonhole you into the correct set of progressive narratives, so your votes or your voices can be milked to advance the liberal pursuit of power. As long you do, say, support, defend, or attack who or what they tell you, where and when they say, then they will not turn their rhetorical guns on you.
If you dare to challenge their institutionalization of their prejudicial victim class caricature, the Democrat Dons will call out a public hit on your character.
So no, they never cared about your “rights,” real or manufactured. They never will. You are just another foot soldier in their culture war who is only one or two false steps away from becoming their enemy, and it makes no difference how gay, or how black, or how female, or foreign, or what your wage or class is. It was never about any of that. It is about power, and they have little to no interest in sharing it. And as for rights, you will lose the ones that matter right along with the rest of us.
Discovering you were used and lied to after it is too late is still too late.
