Speaker of the House Bill O’Brien

Speaker Bill O’Brien reminds us how the government created the problems with health care, then created solutions that just made things worse.  We discuss the decline in the number of available insurers, the decrease in access, and how HB 1541 would open up the market for health insurance, simplify the language in your policy, free of government mandates–which makes your policy relevant to your needs, not based on the decisions of some distant bureaucrats.

We continue the discussion with Medicaid reimbursements, the free rider system, how private insurance is incentivized to increase rates and fees (an indirect tax) to cover the costs of Medicaid, which only pays for about 40% of the cost of medical care and how Medicaid expansion in NH will create a hidden tax, how New Hampshire already has a program for covering the cost of hospital visits for people lacking coverage, and the perverse incentives and disincentives built into the system.
