Two American bloggers, purportedly of good repute, although I haven’t heard of them– which means very little as I’m not a big blog-head and usually hear of the cool ones after they’ve exited Cooldom–were to speak at a march in Woolwich, England. That town may ring a bell. That’s where the British soldier Drummer Lee Rigby was brutally beheaded by a crazed machete wielding Muslim.
Evidently, there is going to be a march there by the England Defence League, a group not all that keen with the idea of an Islamist threat on their streets, and the bloggers who co-founded the group “Stop Islamization of America” were to join. You can see that the two groups are sympatico in at least one respect. But I say “were to join”, because the joined has been unjoined with the U.K. Home Office announcing it has banned the bloggers from the U.K. Apparently their presence, “is not conducive to the public good”, according to one official.
And so it is with the U.K. Just a month after one of its soldiers was beheaded on the street of its own cities, its officials find spine and stand up ready to fight and their target is… two American bloggers and groups that are not entirely sanguine with the idea of Islamists butchering soldiers in their street and are sounding off about it. It kind of reminds me of our own slovenly TSA “officials” processing the security line at any airport USA discovering for themselves if young a boy wears left or right, then demanding the removal of adult diapers from elderly women, followed by the next heavily bearded underwear bomber sauntering through the line, wearing soiled explosives to the left, going unmolested.
Denying two foreigners the privilege of rabble rousing on your streets is any countries prerogative. But if “rabble rousing” is defined as coming to condemn and speak out against the filthy, wretched threat that beheaded a soldier of your country while a craven crowd that he swore to protect stands and watches is rabble rousing, then you’re too far gone. Just start digging. And don’t bother whistling, there’s no need to while you’re prepping the graveyard.
There is a shared enemy here. The bloggers know it. The EDL knows it. And to deny it is to accept the fate the enemy designs.
What happened to the English? Maybe the same “evolution” that happened to the Bostonions.
From a country that endured the hellish blitzkrieg fusillade that engulfed buildings, streets and families in explosive flames, and pock marked the remaining walls, streets, and minds now stands muted and timid in the face of an enemy living on its own streets. Muted and timid while one of its soldier is mutilated on its streets. A mere 60 some odd years later from the blitz and English officialdom simply seeking to quell public disquietude after a repugnant and appalling act befelled one of their soldiers is quite the evolutionary transformation.

It’s part of what bothers me about the self-congratulatory “Boston Strong” slogan making its way to bumper stickers, t-shirts, and ice rinks throughout New England. The theme was ignited just after the bombs did on Boylston this past Patriots Day. And just after the smoke cleared, but not before all the shards, nails, and debris were collected did we witness the Jack Boots of the State infiltrating private houses, going door to door, demanding the people leave their own homes. The Governor commanded that the citizenry stay “sheltered where you are” unless, of course he commanded otherwise. All because a wounded teenager is on the loose. That’s pusillanimity writ large and reified. I’m sorry if I offend anyone, actually, I’m not that sorry and simply ask you to think about it with me.
Would that teenager have been able to do that 10 years ago, 20 years ago? Would the Governor need to impose marshal law light on a large swath of towns and suburbs to handle a wounded teenager? Would those that knew the sniveling Dagestanian bastard have been so willing to help or look the other way? Doubt it. If he would have been able to pull off the bombing back then, I think this episodic conclusion would have been resolved in another way entirely, in a back alley brutish way.
The same indoctrination that instills obsequiousness to Jack Boots in your home and with forcing you and your family out in the streets is the same enfeebled mindset that enables one to tolerate watching a soldier beheaded and doing nothing about it, or simply looking on as a man is beaten unconscious while waiting for your train.
Too many people have been inculcated to believe that they have a very limited role in civil society, a routine to follow, and the State fills in the rest, so no need to bother helping when events warrant it, an “official” will handle it. It’s the same cossetted, docile obeisance that allows an obnoxious dwarf of a mayor to dictate what size beverage people are allowed to have and many people are fine with it. That’s not being a citizen, that’s being a serf.
The delusion that the State’s jurisdiction is wherever it decides and accepting it is illusory and dangerous as recent events have starkly revealed. The Islamist doesn’t wait for his leaders to do the job, he wields the scimitar himself. And the 21st Century civilized version of the scimitar is precisely what Ms. Geller, Mr. Spencer and the EDL are wielding. It’s the movement of individuals trying to take back their liberty and protect themselves from enemies and wake up their sleeping neighbors. They are indeed conducive to the public good, and not recognizing that is not.
