In today’s Concord Monitor fish wrap, Meg Heckman, a lovely young woman and competent reporter wrote about the goings on at Warner’s Town Meeting Wednesday night.

It was a pretty straightforward recitation of Warner’s headlong rush from ‘freedom to freebies’ (Thanks. Skip.  Great phrase) and then she writes:

A proposal to set aside $15,000 to help offset town employees’ health insurance deductibles also met with some resistance.

“Are you kidding me?” someone shouted from the front row.

After a ballot vote, the article passed, 67-41.’

I gotta tell you, when I am told that I must pay the medical deductibles for a police chief whose base salary is excess of $72,000 because “it’s a good deal for the town’, or when someone who’s dodged property and estate taxes by getting paid to put 1250 acres they never intended to develop in the first place into ‘conservation’ tells me Warner has to waste more money on a fashionable roundabout to meet the traffic needs of future development;  when I am told that the potential revenue from placement of a cell tower on land owned by the people of Warner is none of my business; I’m a little more than troubled.
