Ed Morrissey, over at Hot Air, has a quote worth sharing. On the matter of Reason TV’s Nanny of the Month–an Arizona Legislator wanted to add disclaimers to air-brushed images–he makes a point about disclaimers in general and how they have become fuel for our amusement.
I already laugh at the pharmaceutical ads that go through a long string of potential side effects, including death. In the case of erectile-dysfunction ads, the disclaimer even sounds like a benefit: “If you experience an erection for four hours or more, contact your physician immediately! Or perhaps a Georgetown Law student.”
Emphasis mine.
