I mean, what is WRONG with these people? Led by political-hacks in Washington, DC, the Republican Party is looking just as bad as ever. For instance, last year BEFORE the election (surprise, surprise) the DC Republicans came out with a "Pledge to America." It had lots of pretty color pictures, and in it they made promises. Lots of promises, including this….
"We have a plan to impose fiscal discipline and cut government down to size," they said. And part of that plan was to "Act immediately to reduce spending," and to "cut government spending to pre-stimulus, pre-bailout levels." That means they promised to cut at LEAST $100 billion this year.
Well. The House Budget and Appropriations Committees have now come forth with proposals to cut…less than $40 billion this year. When challenged on their promise, they have lots of arguments as to why cutting $100 billion this year is just impossible! In the meantime, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul is proposing, for a start, THIS YEAR, $500 billion in spending cuts…not including additional cuts THIS YEAR that will need to be made in "social security" and "medicare.
