“Just three days after the Deepwater Horizon explosion, the Dutch government offered to provide ships outfitted with oil-skimming booms and proposed a plan for building sand barriers to protect sensitive marshlands. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (a Republican) supported the idea, but the Obama administration refused the help. All told, thirteen countries have offered to help us clean up the Gulf, and the Obama administration has turned them all down. Why?”
Indeed. Why would the Obama administration refuse offers of help with this environmental disaster? Could it be the same type of cold-blooded calculation that Rahm Emanuel has voiced in the past? “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste,” when it gives you a chance to expand the scope, size, and power of government. Well, here we are.
