In a press release posted here on the ‘Grok Friday following the Sotomayer confirmation, Ovide Lamontagne stated that, if he had been a US Senator, he would have voted NO. The same press release referred to him as a potential candidate for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire. After serving as Chairman of the NH State Board of Education from 1993-1996, he was the 1996 Republican nominee for governor of New Hampshire. Today, he practices law at Devine, Millimet & Branch, P.A., and is a recognized leader in the charitable and non-profit communities, having been honored in June of this year as New Hampshire’s Distinguished Citizen of the Year by the Daniel Webster Council – Boy Scouts of America. He will join us for the full first hour to chat the issues of the day, take phone calls, and tell us why he is considering taking a shot at this seat at this particular time.

Joining in for co-host duties for the full program is our good friend and mentor Jorge Mesa-Tejada of Hampstead. He was at the now infamous Shaheen staffer meeting where it is claimed he and others were mean and somehow trampled her constituents rights! (Watch actual footage here and here). We’ll also celebrate his 55 years as a proud, LEGAL US citizen.

Former Laconia Mayor Thomas A Tardif drops by to review the ongoing lawsuit involving the local JAG grant ("stimulus" $$) and how the state’s Right to Know law has been cited in a new filing. This story and the suit’s outcome has the potential to shake up how grants are processed statewide. Taxpayers are being put on the hook for some serious dough in some cases without any real transparency or oversight thanks to some relatively simple laws not being followed. Consider this a promo the Right to Know law seminar we will be participating in Monday eve in Moultonboro.

Pat McSweeney practices law in the City of Richmond where he was born in 1943. He received his undergraduate education from the University of Virginia and his law degree in 1968 from the University of Richmond, where he was editor-in-chief of the University of Richmond Law Review. With a long and distinguished career serving in a variety of positions in the Federal and Virginia State governments, and a stint as chairman of the state GOP under his belt, Pat is currently the Board President of Restore the Founders Vision, a project of The Virginia Grassroots Conservative Coalition, which was established to restore the Founders’ vision of an American Republic dedicated to the protection of our God given rights to life, liberty and property and to limiting government to preserve our freedom.
Singing our song, they believe that more government always results in less individual freedom and less prosperity. According to their website,
We believe more government always results in less individual freedom and less prosperity. We must assume far greater responsibility for ourselves, our families and our communities in order to safeguard our rights and secure our future. We are committed to training, organizing, and mobilizing Virginians to be active participants in our communities, government and the political process.
Hmm. An informed, empowered citizenry? The forces of freedom are on the march!
