It’s official…
Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta will take on Carol Shea Porter in the 2010 race. According to CQPolitics,
Republican Frank Guinta, mayor of Manchester, filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run in New Hampshire’s 1st District.
This is VERY good news for Granite Staters, and the NHGOP as well. Frank Guinta has done a good job of steering his city through tough financial times while keeping his promise not to raise taxes. He has made no secret of the fact that he understands that high taxes result from excessive spending and has publicly stated that elected officials are "not here to fleece the taxpayers." We need more politicians like him!
Folks at the national level of the Republican apparatus seem pleased as well. Said NRCC spokesman Paul Lindsay in an email statement,
“Frank Guinta’s proven record of protecting taxpayer dollars provides a clear contrast to the reckless Washington spending that has been rubber-stamped by Carol Shea-Porter at the expense of New Hampshire families. While this has been a traditionally challenging state for Republicans in recent elections, an established community leader like Guinta has the ability to bridge party lines and once again give New Hampshire the representation it deserves.”
The battle is joined…
