Shipyard union ingrates toss Bradley overboard.

TheFreeDictionary.com defines an “ingrate” as an “ungrateful person.” It lists a similar word: “ungrateful wretch.”  That is the phrase I say most accurately describes the unionized workers of NH’s Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Remember how bad everybody felt for them when it was announced the military wanted to close their facility down? Luckily for them, that didn’t happen. Who’s sorry now?
.
An item in Tuesday’s Laconia Daily Sun says it all:
Unions at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard endorsed Democrat Carol Shea-Porter for Congress yesterday, despite Republican incumbent Jeb Bradley’s work on their behalf.
That’s right- after Congressman Bradley went to the mat for these people they show their gratitude by working to help defeat him in the upcoming election. Despite marching in their parades, wearing their silly yellow shirts with “SOS” (Save Our Shipyard- or was it Stuck On Stupid?), and using all the clout he could muster with the Bush administration to save their well-paying union jobs, this is the thanks he gets.
.
The familiar term “union mentality” is often used as a derogatory description of the mindset of those who blindly follow their leaders in such organizations. When I think of typical big labor union activity, my mind’s eye shows me a roomfull of thuggish-looking characters all wearing red or yellow shirts pumping their fists wildly in the air at the Al Gore rally like a bunch of mindless automatons. This incident further reinforces that view.
.
“Oh but Doug, come on- they’re not as dumb as you’re portraying them.” Really? Then what else would explain union members that work at a MILITARY establishment endorsing an avowed anti-military moonbat? Yesterday morning I happened to catch a news report showing Shea-Porter stating she was going to help taxpayers with some budget cuts when she gets to Washington. Hello Mr./Mrs. Union Shipbuilder- care to guess what line items she has in mind?
