Just two months ago, you and I went to the mid-term polls and overwhelmingly (with the exception of outliers in Massachusetts, California, and New York) chose to give Republicans a chance to stop the destructive momentum of the Progressive, ultra-Liberal agents in the White House, Congress, and the NH Legislature.
We did this because we saw the direction they were taking our country, with unprecedented deficit spending and the expansion of government entitlement, which history and simple accounting show we cannot sustain.
You saw a Congress and NH Legislature that claimed they were for “government transparency”, but pulled out every legislative tactic and dirty trick to achieve their goals, not ours, acting against the desires and concerns of their electorate, in the name of what seemed to be blatant ideological advancement.
As the Republicans we chose begin to take office, and the legislative sessions begin this week, the Progressives and Liberal Democrats we just removed from office will begin their fight to make their voices heard, and to confuse us, by emotionally pleading for transparency, "fair play", and bi-partisanship across the aisle, which they rejected during their recent time in power.
They will begin to cut down the Republicans who are facing the unenviable task of cleaning up the mess that has been created (by both parties, over a 40 year period), which is guaranteed to make a number of people unhappy, as they are forced to face the reality that, contrary to what they’ve been told, their government cannot be-all and do-all for them – that their success in life is up to them, not the taxpayers. Progressives will muster all the forces they have at their disposal, to stop or slow the turn-around we demanded.
If we take a quick look at Europe today, we see our potential future…unless we remain pragmatic and faithful to the instincts we acted upon in November, 2010.
Given how Liberals and Progressives acted over the past two years, and how they managed to put our nation at risk – fiscally and structurally – we must see them for what they are: indignant ideologues that nearly succeeded in ruining the greatest Nation in the history of humankind – our home. If we don’t ignore the Liberal rhetoric, and give Republicans and Conservatives a chance to fix this, understanding that it will be painful, the ruin that was attempted may still have a chance at success.
Some suspect that the President and his followers in Congress are actively intent on destroying our society from within, and to be honest, I cannot say that I always disagree with this notion. Looking at their methods and actions, I fail to see the logic and sense, as they insisted on methods that have failed before, furthering our risk, leaving other, untapped options that have succeeded in the past.
If they are not deliberately trying to harm our nation, they are either foolishly inept, or simply blinded by ideology; either way, their rejection by us was justified.
This correction will take time. While we cannot let our guard or vigilance down (all politicians should be under tough scrutiny), we must put some faith in the Republicans who are about to take action, particularly with the true Conservatives within their ranks – a faction that has not existed in the past, and just may be the group that saves us this time around, so help them, God.
