The Singing Mailman, who just happens to be MY mailman, regularly leaves his business card with the latest schedule of upcoming tour dates. I’ve kept the newest one behind a refrigerator magnet for the past several days while I’ve waited for details to be added to his events page.
As seen on the business card, it says “9/20 – Benefit for Beanie’s staff at Whiskey Tavern in Laconia 3-9p.” Good to know, but some potential patrons might want more information, especially if they’re coming from outside the Laconia area. I had questions, like whether there was a requested donation amount or a portal for ordering tickets, as I’ve never been to Whiskey Tavern.
Before encouraging people to book their Sunday evening, I wanted to make certain that nobody came from afar only to learn it’s a sold-out show. I didn’t know what to think, so I turned to Loudon Trustee of the Trust Donna LaClair for some reliable intel. She uses FB, and I don’t, so she knew exactly where to find the event graphic below.
If you missed the headlines on August 17 and didn’t read my previous article, let it be known now that they had a fire, and about 30 employees were faced with a surprise furlough of unknown duration until they rebuild and reopen. It stands to reason that this event was put together several days ago, at least prior to me receiving The Singing Mailman’s business card, so “the usual suspects,” meaning the likers and followers, already know, but the Grok readership is a good like-minded population to spread the word to and possibly recruit some more patrons. There appears to be something for everyone, including a motorcycle ride hours earlier, and it’s come and go as you please, so no doorman asking for your ticket.
If you don’t already have plans for next Sunday afternoon, consider attending. Tell everyone with ties to Laconia. Someone might consider telling Mayor Rep Bordes, or if JR prefers, Rep Mayor Bordes. Maybe he would be willing to use his influential position (in whatever lawful ways at his disposal) to throw the event some publicity.
