It isn’t making news, probably because the left and its army of militant wine-moms, the toxic empathy army, is distracted by the paid-protester pay day in Minnesota. But that’s starting to wind down. And while there are plenty of opportunities for paid protesters to make “a living wage” by pretending to be angry about something or other, DOGE hasn’t attracted their attention in a while.
Almost no attention, not that it wants any, but the Department of Government Efficiency is still at work looking for things the government makes you pay for that are a waste of those hard-earned dollars. Waste, fraud, money laundering (like thousands upon thousands oaf “news “subscriptions) that prop up the lying media. And sure, there are just well-intended expenses that are also completely unnecessary.
DOGE is still actively searching for and finding contracts and costs to cut, so you don’t have to pay for them anymore.
And DOGE has helped. Over the weekend, DHHS crowdsourced the publicly facing Medicaid database, along with rewards or bounties for anyone who discovers fraud. Even paid protesters can try it. Search, filter, screen, fisk. If you find suspicious activity, you can report it. If investigators take up your find and there is, in fact, fraud, you can score a percentage of the total as reimbursement. [Related: MACDONALD: Becket Academy in NH and Medicaid Reimbursement]
You save taxpayers billions, uncover illicit and illegal activity, and reduce government costs.
Over the weekend, Musk celebrated DOGE’s release of the Medicaid database and said fraud would now be easy to find within the program.
“Medicaid data has been open sourced, so the level of fraud is easy to identify,” Musk wrote on X, the social media platform he owns. “DOGE is not a department, it’s a state of mind.”
A spokesperson for the Department of Health and Human Services, Andrew Nixon, said in a statement provided to media outlets last week that the database would be used to find “aggregated data to increase transparency and accountability beyond what is currently available.” He noted that the release of that information “will comply with federal privacy laws.”
Sure, getting paid to show up and act angry about the latest left-wing thing is easier money, but with some help from AI, almost anyone could probably find fraud and a bigger payday outing the people whose alleged rights you were previously being paid to pretend you cared about.
No fear of getting pepper-sprayed or even killed by federal law enforcement. No stinky co-protesters, or loud whistles, or the big one, pretending you care about anything but the money. And this would do some good. Some of those people pretending to protest with you could see the cost of care improve.
What’s that worth?
Nothing to Democrats. If they did, they’d stop designing and defending systems that waste your money and the fraudsters who steal it from you. But they do waste it, then protect the system, and rile up whoever they can to convince you it is wrong to expose the flaws and the fraud.
