I never used to play games on my smartphone until I discovered Crossy Road. This addictive spin on Frogger is fast, fun, and can fill a few seconds or a few thousand seconds, whatever your need.
But before you tap your way to a free copy of this endless arcade hopper I must warn you. My nickname for this game is dammit!
The premise is simple. Get your character across as many roads, rails, and rivers as possible before you say Dammit!
You can play it while waiting for a PC to boot, coffee to brew while standing in line, or if you are the sort that does this, seated on porcelain human waste disposal fixtures.
Yes, there are in-app pleas to purchase things between deaths, just ignore them. Collect coins in the game while you play. You will get an opportunity to acquire the same goodies for nothing; new characters or avatars to march across the landscape. Characters that interact differently in the game space.
Here’s a look at the gameplay.
In this video the gamer is using a unicorn–you’ll start with a chicken–and if you watch the whole thing, you’ll see that he is good. A score of 580 is well beyond my current ability. My highest score is 171 with 50 or 60 being more of an average and under 10 being both common and the inspiration for the nickname.
Dammit!
But it is a fun dammit! as you try to learn from your mistakes and dodge and jump your way to a new best. So download a copy to play, and you’ll have something fun to fill those moments between the things that matter.
