MANCHESTER – Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) highlighted a disturbing pattern of cronyism in state government that arose over the past week. Last Thursday, the public learned that the Agriculture Commissioner, who is lobbying hard for a bailout of dairy farmers, would be a top recipient of taxpayer funds under such a bailout. On Sunday, a news report identified that Dartmouth-Hitchcock employees helped craft a proposal on a contract on which the hospital bid. Monday, an AFP-NH Right to Know request revealed that state officials handed a no-bid, $1.2 million contract to an out-of-state vendor that had never done business with the state, without considering other alternatives, because a state official responsible for oversee state funding was friends with a staffer of the vendor.
