The solar system “officially” has a new object. Niku circles our sun outside the orbit of Neptune, at 110 degrees to the plane of the solar system, in the opposite direction of everything else.
The discovery is forcing this scientific community to rethink its theories about our outer solar system and what else might be at work. They’ll examine the data, crunch new theories, and toss out old ones that no longer work because billions in annual grants and funding don’t hang on their defending any existing political theory at the expense of the actual evidence. Not yet, at least.
