The All-Out Attack on Parental Rights

As a parental rights advocate in New Hampshire, focused on academic excellence in education, the attack on parental rights is at an all-time high. The good news is, parents are finally fighting back.

For too long they’ve been sitting on the sidelines while the progressives on the political left have infringed upon their rights. One of the most sacred bonds is between parents and their child, but that is now the target from the radicals on the left.

The attack on parents was highlighted this week when Disney came out against the new parental rights law in Florida. Disney opposed one of the strongest laws in the country that supports parental rights :

CS/CS/HB 1557: Parental Rights in Education

Parental Rights in Education; Requires district school boards to adopt procedures that comport with certain provisions of law for notifying student’s parent of specified information; requires such procedures to reinforce fundamental right of parents to make decisions regarding upbringing & control of their children; prohibits school district from adopting procedures or student support forms that prohibit school district personnel from notifying parent about specified information or that encourage student to withhold from parent such information; prohibits school district personnel from discouraging or prohibiting parental notification & involvement in critical decisions affecting student’s mental, emotional, or physical well-being; prohibits classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in certain grade levels; requires school districts to notify parents of healthcare services; authorizes parent to bring action against school district to obtain declaratory judgment; provides for additional award of injunctive relief, damages, & reasonable attorney fees & court costs to certain parents.

This law was dubbed the “don’t say gay” law in Florida.  But as you can see, the word gay isn’t in the language. That should tell you something about those engaged in this political battle and their willingness to lie in an effort to win over support for their cause. They clearly think you are stupid enough to listen to their spin without actually reading the law, and understanding it.

Even democrats in Florida supported this legislation.

Disney executives have shown their willingness to support sexualizing and grooming children:

Corporate President Karey Burke exposed the company’s future projects, saying she wants a “minimum of 50 percent of its characters to be LGBTQIA” and other minorities.

Governor DeSantis took the opportunity to point to the hypocrisy by Disney executives as they continue their cruises to Dominica, a country that criminalizes homosexuality. And of course Disney’s fawning over China, in spite of the abuse on Uyghur Muslims.

The new Woke Disney went from a company providing joy to children to a company supporting the sexualization and grooming of children. Social media picked up on all of this:

Parents do not want their children exposed to these topics. They want their child’s teacher to instruct them on math and reading. What kind of a person thinks it’s ok to expose young children to these topics at such a young age?  These are topics that parents should be discussing with their children, at the age that they believe is appropriate.

Teachers can focus on helping children learn to be kind to all of their peers. Teach children to treat their classmates with respect and dignity.

What happened to respecting the parents and the children?

There are many children who will be confused and will not be ready for these conversations, especially coming from people outside their family. Good parents will want to cover these topics in a sensitive way that respects the dignity and modesty in their children. A parent can stop the conversation if they sense their child is not ready to hear it. Maybe they should wait a year or two before they go back to these topics.

This push to sexualize and groom children in schools disrespects the families and children. Some of these topics are inappropriate based on what we are hearing from whistle blowers like this school nurse in Connecticut.  Kathleen Cataford, 77, was suspended by Hartford Public Schools School after she posted comments that revealed a student, who is 11, was on puberty blockers, and 12 others were non-binary. Teachers were helping some keep this all secret.  She goes on to add, “Teachers and SSW are spending 37.5 hours a week influencing our children, not necessarily teaching our children what YOU think is being taught.

When did the public schools become so hyper-focused on this radical social agenda? It’s not like they have a stellar reputation for high academic performance among the student population. In fact, many are failing to educate children to proficiency in the core academic subjects. That is not stopping them from forcing this radical agenda on the students that are entrusted to their care.

Is it any wonder that school choice is becoming more popular among families while the number of home-schoolers increase? Enrollment is falling in public schools, but they refuse to take any responsibility for that. Instead they fight families who want other options for their children.

These are the people who are attacking parental rights while destroying their own public schools.

Like lower enrollment in public schools, I suspect Disney will see lower numbers of children exposed to their entertainment. Parent need to remember, if they don’t fight for their children, who will?
