NH Senate Votes Down Gun-Free School Zones in N.H.

Concealed carry holsterAn effort by Democrats to use public schools as a wedge issue to disarm law abiding citizens failed in the New Hampshire Senate this week.

In a party-line vote, the Senate Education Committee voted down an amendment that would have allowed individual school boards to prohibit guns on school grounds and school buses.

The amendment – added to Senate Bill 357 by Sen. Martha Hennessey, D-Claremont – would have permitted the schools to override state law, which allows lawful gun owners to carry firearms on school campuses. Senators voted it down, 3-2, preventing its advance to the Senate floor.

Republican John Reagan told the Concord Monitor that, “My feeling is that I am not going to support anything that will tell a bad person that this is a safe place to attack,”

A shooter bent on mass murder could be drawn to areas where he knew others would be unarmed, Reagan added.

Democrats are so desperate to use this issue to advance their gun ban agenda that they actually invoked the idea of local control as an excuse.

Democrats saw it differently. Sen. David Watters, D-Dover, called the argument “inappropriate” adding that it distracted from “what we really can and must do to allow local authorities to decide that they can have a gun-free zone.”

“I’m disappointed,” he said, “because our children are crying out to us to do something about keeping their schools free of guns.”

Our children want to go to school and not have to worry about being shot up. Your using them as pack-mules to project your purely political elites-only gun agenda is not justification for expanding on a policy idea that has failed to protect anyone.

And it is a failed policy. A policy with a growing body count. One the NH Senate would like to discourage from including students in the Granite State.

I don’t than them for much, but I’m thanking them for this.

One more point. Since when did a Democrat ever give a crap about anyone crying out for anything that didn’t advance their political agenda?

The answer is not just never, not these days. It is never, and you are a white supremacist, racist, bigot who should not be permitted to speak for daring to deviate from the progressive program; even when it means more dead kids and more blood on the altar of the Democrat Party platform.
