John Bolton: Ready to Clean House as National Security Advisor

john-bolton-cpac-2017On April 9th, John Bolton will take over as Head of National Security. One official warned all the Obama-Era holdovers that, “Everyone who was there during Obama years should start packing their sh!t.”

Music to my ears. But it gets better.

“…the purge reportedly won’t stop with former Obama appointees. A source told Foreign Policy that Bolton intends to “remove almost all the political [appointees] McMaster brought in.”

Sadly, the report goes on to indicate that because of the time involved in approving the necessary security clearance for replacements that the transition won’t be that abrupt.

“…which will likely leave Bolton with most current staff for President Trump’s upcoming May meeting with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.”

It’s worth stopping here to point out that the US is even having a meeting with Kim Jong Un. And I admit that I’ve not delved into the weeds on that yet, but I think has a good sense of his objectives and McMaster likely left him prepared for the event.

As for Bolton, I’ve met him. I’m familiar with his experience and history. And yeah, there’s that neocon thing.

Bolton will be accused of being a neocon warmonger, but using that term doesn’t tell us much these days, as it has come to mean for many people “He wants to go to war before I do.” Bolton is uncompromising on national security and knows the value of brandishing a big stick precisely because it can prevent war.

Nobody is perfect, but he’s an excellent choice to facilitate those moves (the cleaning house bit) as quickly as he can. He’s also been around the DC block a time or two. He knows foreign policy and national security and peace through strength, which is a key to Trump foreign policy despite what the libs are selling.

At the very least we’ll get some wailing and gnashing of teeth from the left, and that’s almost always worth the price of admission.
