Granite State Taxpayers Opposes Family Leave Bill HB628!

HB628 establishes a mandatory paid family and medical leave insurance (FMLI).

The bill requires NH Employment Security to establish and administer the FMLI fund.

Employers would pay quarterly premiums of 0.5 percent of employee wages.

The costs to operate the program are unknown.

Insurance plans currently exist to provide coverage for the benefits in this legislation.  

Plans are sold, on a voluntary basis, to employers wanting to provide these benefits.

This chapter applies to all nongovernmental employers.

Employment Security estimates $3,700,000 cost and 45 new employees in FY 2021.

HB628 grows government to take over insurance now in the private sector.
