The Left’s Sexual Assault and Rape Epidemic

Harvey-Weinstein-Ben-Affleck-ap-imgGiven the seemingly unyielding deluge of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and rape news pouring out about Hollywood, the mainstream media, and many other lefty zones of activity (academia, NPR, and ooh, I just heard about David Corn–figures), doesn’t it seem like that maybe one reason slimes like those in the news today howl on about women’s rights and other leftist causes is so they can use it as a get out of jail free card? Like the Bill Clinton One Free Grope defense, “Hey, he’s for abortion. He gets a free one!”

Sure, the scoundrels might truly believe what they shout and promote, but I doubt not as much as they make it seem, if they even believe it at all. More likely, they’re using it for something else.

I mean if you truly believed something in your heart and soul, you would not act contrary to that belief. True, there might be slips. But then it would be followed by contrition. But the slips would be nothing like what we’ve seen from Weinstein et al. This behavior is serial, intrinsic, and predatory.

No, maybe the sanctimonious howls from people like these are simply bait used to attract their prey? To this predator, cultivating the right message lowers the guard and defenses against it. “Hey, I’m for the 99%. Let me in your tent.” That’s not hyperbole. Remember the Occupy Wall Street rape problems were so bad, that they had to put up Women Only tents? The left does seem to be infected with rapists, gropers, and harassers. Of course we know their politicians have this problem (ahem, Bill Clinton, Anthony Weiner, the Kennedys etc.). There’s something about leftism and its message or activity that seems to be attracting this type of predator.

I’m not saying that there aren’t those feces polluting the right, there are to be sure. And I’m not saying all lefty men are repulsive sexual predators (though they’re repulsive for other reason). I am saying that the extent of this reprehensible behavior that we’re seeing now is coming from lefty zip codes.  That may change, but I doubt it. Could it be that there is something in leftism, in the “morally-squishy-vanquish-tradition-cause-du-jour” activism itself that attracts this type of person? That this type of person may see it as a field of opportunities? Say the right things, dress the right way, act the right way, get close.

I’ve been to conservative and “right wing” protests and demonstrations, and there was never a single issue like the one at Occupy. I’ve worked in many places around the country, in giant corporations, tiny startups, and mid-size companies and I have never come across anything like what is described in the news. I never even heard of it happening. I’m sure individual incidents probably occurred at least in some of those places, and I was just not privy to it.

But I do travel in circles and associate with people who do not behave in such an immoral, disgusting way. And those who I call friends, would never even have a serious thought about abusing someone.

For some reason, these lefties seem to view themselves as above other people. Seem to view women, and in some cases men, probably one time friends, as mere tools for their pleasure. Not as people. Not as a person.

There is a strain that runs through the left that seeks to dehumanize their opponents, to turn them into something bad, into something evil (e.g., racist, sexist, homophobe, denier, privileged etc), so it’s easier to dismiss them. You can see this all the time on Twitter, talk shows, columns, and in speeches. The same strain that the left uses to dehumanize political opponents, might be the same strain that makes it easier for the powerful men of the left to view others as something less than human and something to be used as they wish.

I used to roll my eyes at all the prattle among lefty women about sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape being an epidemic, but now I see they may be onto something. They surround themselves with leftist men.
