A Quick Note About Driving on Those Roads You “Own”

Road with a curveI could probably write a post every week about “driving, ” but for the moment let’s limit this to a discussion about situational awareness and lane departures. Are you aware how often you drift over the yellow line on roads with curves or bends in them?

I know it’s your road, I get that, but as long as you have to let me drive on it, I’d appreciate it if you’d put at least a little extra focus into staying centered in your lane instead of floating over the center into mine.

This is particularly troublesome when it’s a blind curve, or there is a slope or hill.

Every day and I mean Every. Damn. Day. Someone is on or over the line in one or more of the curves I navigate to and from work, or on or about my daily business. It’s almost comical except for what it means for these folks and unsuspecting motorists going the other direction.

No, I’m not worried about me. I pay extra attention and take appropriate precautions because I know how you are. I trained my kids to be equally aware.  I can’t say they listened when I’m not with them but they’ve been warned and instructed how best to proceed. But not everyone is as aware and seeing as they may be like you, thinking it’s their road and not yours, the two of you could come to an unpleasant and ugly end, and I’d hate to see that.

You may be an arrogant douchebag, but that doesn’t mean you need to be crippled or killed in a violent and fiery crash.

Thanks for your attention. And stay alive out there!
