A few days ago there was a rally in Washington DC. The Mother of All Rallies, billed as a pro-Trump event, attracted a lot of folks including a group from Black Lives Matter, which the organizer invited on stage as a show of good faith in Free Speech.
“So you guys know that the ‘Mother of All Rallies’ was to end the political violence,” Gunn began.
“It’s about freedom of speech. It’s about celebration. So what we’re going to do is something you’re not used to, and we’re going to give you two minutes of our platform to put your message out,” Gunn told the BLM activists.
You may not have heard this because no media in New Hampshire (that I can find) is reporting it.
Newsome discussed the experience:
HANK NEWSOME: It kind of restored my faith in some of those people, because when I spoke truths, they agreed.
I feel like we made progress. I feel like two sides that never listen to each other actually made progress today. Did I expect to go on that stage? No. I expected to come down here with my fist in the air in a very militant way, exchange insults, maybe some dirty looks, or who knows what.
If not on a grander level, but just person to person, I think we really made some substantial steps, without either side yielding anything.
This is a great story and given the tenor of reporting in recent months should serve as way-point at a critical time in our culture. So why isn’t there any major-media reporting? Why isn’t anyone in New Hampshire reporting it? Why hasn’t it been heralded as a new day, a break in the clouds, a sign of progress?
In a nation with a hair-trigger pull for anything and everything that can be spun as racism or division, why the dinosaur media blackout?
Sorry, it’s not a total blackout. ABC news.com does mention it in passing in the last paragraph of an online report but only as an aside to a piece focused on low turnout at that event and anti-Trump protests and protesters.
Meanwhile, back in the Granite State, we’ve got Crickets.
