Anti-Gun Bill HB350 – A ‘Solution’ for a Problem That Doesn’t Exist

With 400 House members, the NH Legislature sees its share of bad bills. But HB350 is not just a bad law; it creates problems where none existed in the name of solving a problem that never existed.

This bill prohibits possession of a firearm at a polling place during a federal, state, or municipal election.

I know, your first thought is wow, this will stop all those gun related incidents at New Hampshire polling places, right? Which ones? Great question. There aren’t any. None. There has never been a gun-related incident to my knowledge at a New Hampshire Polling place, ever. But if HB350 were to become law, and I don’t think Gov. Sununu would sign it if it even made it to his desk, these spaces would become gun free zones in New Hampshire.

The left will push any angle to get guns banned anywhere they can then use that as a means to petition for bans in other places.

HB350 is no exception.

I. No person shall knowingly carry a loaded or unloaded pistol, revolver, firearm, or other deadly weapon as defined in RSA 625:11, V, whether open or concealed, or whether licensed or unlicensed, upon the person or within any of the person’s possessions owned or within the person’s control at a polling place during a federal, state, or municipal election.

Leave the firearm at home. Your car is a possession. No carrying on the way to work, or school. Law abiding gun owners are either disarmed for the day or, they don’t vote. Either way, it’s a win-win for anti-gun Democrats.

Normalize a restriction. Pretend it has made people safer, even if it has not. Push for limitations or bans on the next target area. Grow the gun-ban culture until you’ve made it a burden for law-abiding citizens to carry legally.

Criminals will be unaffected but some law abiding citizens when confronted with barriers like these will just choose not to carry at all, and that is the point. Slow or stop the growth of the law abiding gun culture.

The left already blames legal gun owners for every gun crime. Their first reaction to crime is to find ways to restrict gun rights further, even though any sane person understands that criminals will not follow these laws any more than they followed those that preceded them. And that assists another agenda.

Crime is an excuse to expand government and raise taxes. It feeds the Progressive need for the police state. The weaponization of bureaucracies, federal control of local policing. These are the goals. A national domestic ‘army’ with force superiority that answers to the political class in DC.

Obama was building it. Hillary would have continued the job. A plan that begins at the local level with the whisper of a bill like HB350. Anti-gun legislation introduced despite the complete lack of any need. A bill to ‘solve’ a problem that doesn’t exist. Well, not in the real world.

Democrats see it as a problem. Pro-gun voters are a big problem. A law like this helps to advance the anti-gun agenda while increasing the likelihood that more Democrats will win office. If just enough disenfranchised gun owners skip voting in just one state or local election, where races are often decided by just a few votes in a town election or a few votes in each town for state elections, they gain more power to advance the anti-gun agenda. The votes needed to push their entire agenda from the State House.

Yes, you have to defend your rights and the rights of others every year, year after year. They will not stop trying to take away your rights. Ever.

There is a public hearing on HB 350 this Tuesday, January 24, at 10 AM in Room 204 of the Legislative Office Building. Show up to speak or just to sign off on the blue sheet as opposed. You don’t need to testify. Just showing up makes a difference

And take a moment to email the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee. Politely and briefly explain your opposition.
