I have known Corey Lewandowski for about twelve years or more. In that time I have never known him to be a person who would viciously attack anyone, let alone some female reporter in a public forum. Nor would I imagine he would jeopardize any cause or candidate he was working for by doing so. Corey isn’t stupid by any means. So I am giving Corey the benefit of the doubt.
Being a blogger who is not particularly a Trump supporter but someone who lives in NH and has seen more than my share of a media frenzy, I thought I would take a look at some facts and info from other sources starting with the first thing I heard about this on Glen Beck’s program where Corey was accused of attempting to pull this reporter to the ground. Now we have video, lots of video.
Terris wrote about the scuffle the next day.
“As security parted the masses to give him passage out of the chandelier-lit ballroom, Michelle Fields, a young reporter for Trump-friendly Breitbart News, pressed forward to ask the Republican front-runner a question. I watched as a man with short-cropped hair and a suit grabbed her arm and yanked her out of the way. He was Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s 41-year-old campaign manager.”
Here is the newer surveillance video showing the incident, from above, where you can clearly see the female reporter’s jacket moved/wrinkled by Corey’s hand as he grabbed her, just below her shoulder.
You can also see that her hands are in front of her and she is holding a device or note pad, and a pen in her right hand. Her left hand is about to or did touch Trump.
In this video below you can see Corey reach for the female reporter’s left arm, which is, again, as with the video above, bent with her hand forward towards Mr. Trump. This video has slow motion.
Then there is this compilation of stills below that show the female reporter’s left hand up against Mr. Trump, and below her right hand, just as Corey grabs her by the arm. From everything I have seen she was grabbed by her upper arm – just below the shoulder where her jacket then wrinkled, and in some videos, Corey’s fingers can be seen.
Now I don’t have a clue how hard Corey grabbed this woman but I don’t see how he could have put bruises on her lower arm just above her wrist – as her own posted photo shows.
Off to court we go and I hope there is a trial, evidence submitted, and testimony under oath.
Some things I would like to know:
- In some of the videos you can see the prime witness, Ben Terris, say something to Corey but Terris doesn’t mention it in his Washington Post article from the next day. I find it interesting he didn’t include an exchange of words with Corey in an article about what he described as Corey trying to “pull her down” when the conversation happened during the incident?
- The reporter, Michelle Fields, has claimed that Allen West sexually assaulted her but she pressed no charges. Why now with this incident?
- Fields has also claimed the NY Police beat her to the ground with batons but pressed no charges nor did she publish any photos of what must have been physical injury?
- When she was interviewing Leonardo DiCaprio not long ago Fields was physically up against him, as apparently is her style, when event security moved in between her and the actor, much as Lewandowski did in Florida. No charges?
Friends you can count on in conservative circles are few and far between, as I have found out over the last twenty years or so. Let the person claiming assault prove it in court – no plea deals. She can put her career on the line as well – what a great story for her new book coming out in June.
I am not abandoning Corey over this reporter and her fluctuating accusations.
