Among the fifty states and the District of Columbia Washington DC had the highest mandatory minimum wage in 2014 at $9.50 per hour.  It also had the highest percentage of people on Poverty in the US; 20.7%.

Over one in five residents live at or below the poverty level in DC.

Democrats need to stop telling lies.  A higher minimum wage does not help low income “families”.  If it did, DC would have the lowest poverty rate in the nation, a distinction that belongs to New Hampshire–where the minimum wage is $7.25/hour.
