Dear Republicans… You We’re Not Elected To Work “With” Democrats

Harry 'Rim shot!' Reid "I'm Here all Week!"
Harry Reid set the Senate up to work – we just needed him out of the way to make it happen.

Dear Republicans…no one elected you to work with Democrats.

If voters really wanted people who would work closely with Obama and other Democrats to “get things done,” they would have just voted for more Democrats. After all, virtually every elected Democrat has “worked with” Obama (in the sense of doing exactly everything he asked) for the last six solid years. Say what you want about the information level of the average voter, but absolutely no one was confused into thinking that they were replacing a Democrat with a Republican in the hopes that the Republican would be more friendly to the Democrat agenda.

R/S

I have a suggestion as well.   Reid changed the Senate rules to protect Obama from legislation.  He changed the rules to stop debate, and favor a slim Democrat majority.  My suggestion?  #RunItLikeReid.

Open the flood gates.   For at least the next…I don’t know, two years, return the favor.  No Democrat amendments, no Democrat Debate, up or down (down) on all the waiting Obama nominations (see also Obamanations), move suitable legislation to Obama’s desk and breakneck speed.  That’s right – Do what Democrats said they wanted.  End gridlock and get stuff done.

Budget bills?  Here’s a few dozen.

Immigration reform – secure the border.

Spending?  Why not put some of that faith you have in the American people to the test.  Shift the Federal gas tax back to the states.  Re-prioritize  major cabinet budget dollars and direct it back to the people and the states…by leaving it there in the first place.   Just give it back as block grants that sunset in (just under) two years into sums the Federal government simply does not collect in the first place.

Why would Democrats vote against trusting the same people who voted them into office?

Make them vote, then make them explain why they don’t trust their State governors, their state legislatures, and their own people more than bureaucrats and lobbyists in DC.  Make them do it, every damn day.

Make Obama tell the people that he trusts Washington more than them with vetoes.

You can’t be a “do nothing Republican” if all you do is send bills to Obama every day and then tell the people why you trust them more than Washington to get it done and to do it right.

Just Run it like Reid…in reverse.  No time for Obama to campaign, no time for golf – just time to work.

Time to get things done, time to move the power out of gridlocked Washington and back to the States where they can get things done with their own money on their priorities.  And the only way to do that is to stop the obstructionist democrats from stopping “progress, Baby!”

Want to save America.  Get it out of DC and give it back to America.

Or, at the very least…shift the “Gridlock” to the Oval office.  And then ask every day…why Obama does not trust the people.  Every day.  Just do it.

Closing Observation: I bet Reid tries to change the Senate rules back in the last days of December to prevent this very thing from happening.  I’m also not convinced Republicans have the spine to do this at all, let alone for two years— but I just gave them the template, and agenda, and the narrative to go with it.   It would work. Democrats and the media would have to make excuses almost daily for why we should not flush out DC and try to give trust, money, and power to governors and state legislatures and their viewers and voters.  And why that wouldn’t end gridlock in DC by giving DC less to get gridlocked about.
