Okay, that’s not true. Nobody’s making that claim , at least not yet. But I expect something just as ridiculous will spurt forth from the warm mongers to explain away the Swedish study that found that the Earth was warmer during the Roman and Medieval periods.

It’s tough these days to be a warm-monger- sky-is-melting-climate-alarmist. With the coldest temperature ever recorded just a few days ago, snow blanketing the middle east, snow in Egypt, and nearly “…three feet of snow closed roads in and out of Jerusalem”, what’s a warm monger to think? His entire argument is collapsing under the weight of empirical evidence. Evidence that is hard to refute.  It may be refutable, but one thing is certain, the science isn’t settled.  The debate is real, legitimate and endures.  And the pile of that evidence and science, unfavorable to the warm mongers, is getting higher, consider this new study, from TheDC

The study, by scientist Leif Kullman, analyzed 455 “radiocarbon-dated mega-fossils” in the Scandes mountains and found that tree lines for different species of trees were higher during the Roman and Medieval times than they are today. Not only that, but the temperatures were higher as well.

Kullman found. “Prior to that, the pine tree line (and summer temperatures) was consistently higher than present, as it was also during the Roman and Medieval periods.”

Kullman also wrote that “summer temperatures during the early Holocene thermal optimum may have been 2.3°C higher than present.” The “Holocene thermal optimum was a warm period that occurred between 9,000 and 5,000 years ago. This warm period was followed by a gradual cooling period.”

According to Kullman, the temperature spikes were during the Roman and Medieval warming periods “were succeeded by a distinct tree line/temperature dip, broadly corresponding to the Little Ice Age.”

Of course, as I just intimated, the settled argument crowd will try to contort, pervert, and pinch out some faux steaming argument as some amelioration to that evidence. I have no doubt. Something like the Roman warming was due to excessive bovine borborygmus which lead to abnormally abundant, violent, and excessively heated flatulence firing from the back sides of Roman cows. And that brown plume is the real cause of the “temperatures…” to be “… 2.3°C higher than present.” And every one knows the cow flatulence and car exhaust secrete the same amount of bad gas, right?  Some will buy that hoof, rump and all.

But if that doesn’t work.  They’ll just smear the scientist and anyone that is open to his ideas.

Regardless, I venture many once Global Warming believers are realizing that they’ve been duped by a cadre of self-serving hacks seeking to exploit an issue in order to enrich themselves like some sort of sinister trend monger.  These people are no longer willing to buy the “settled argument” that Global Warming is real.  It’s not settled. Not in the least bit. Now, grab your ski’s, we’re heading to the powder in Cairo.
