The New State Color Will Be Potato

by Steve MacDonald

White potato voted NH state vegetable

All Hail the White Potato

That’s right, It is time for a new state vegetable.  (heh heh.)

No, I’m not kidding.   By a vote of 276-75 the New Hampshire House today voted to change  our state vegetable to the White potato.

The potato bill cites research showing New Hampshire was the first state to cultivate the white potato in North America when an Irish immigrant brought a sack of seed potatoes in 1719 to the area now known as Derry.

Virginia challenged that research, but has since conceded. The bill will now be considered by the Senate.

On a related note, if I remember my Itse correctly, we were also the first state with a Constitution.

Can we get the Democrat majority to honor that next?  And can I get a side of fries with that?

HB 535 An Act establishing the White Potato as the state vegetable.

I’ve always thought that if the Washington Redskins caved to pc madness, they could keep the name and just change the mascot to a russet potato.

Red bliss might be more apropos.

  • Makes better vodka so I’m on-board. Should have been barley because the average Granite Stater drinks 30 gallons of beer yearly and walks an average of 1,000 miles a year. That is an average of 33.33 miles per gallon which isn’t bad!

I think our state vegetable should be beer.

Yeah, not so much…Liquor consumption statistics are attributed to our lower liquor, beer and whine taxes where citizens of MA, VT, and ME cross into the Granite state to procure libations and engage in a bit of tax avoidance. Like Bay State Lawmaker Michael J. Rodrigues, (D) Westport, who advocated and supported a substantial increase in MA alcohol tax, voted for it, passed it, then was found in NH purchasing Libations at a State Liquor Store. (God! I hate this IPad )

Perfect choice for NH – boring, mostly white and not very nutritious!

NH is always in top three for heath in the US. Definitely white though.

I suppose we should ask…change the name to White Potato Mountains?

        That’s racist, and tuber-centric.

I prefer those little red ones . . . the purple ones taste ok, but something about a purple potato just gives me the willies.

Race-baiting…the new liberal pastime for not being accountable for asking “why” Last time I checked, Amerika was still a somewhat free country and people, no matter what color or race, could live anywhere they choose…But I suppose liberals could make the Granite State more a state of color by forcing Blacks to live here…Once upon a time, that was called, “slavery.” Curious…What will liberals call the new slavery by forcing people of color to live here under the banner of diversity? I have even heard it said by one liberal that we have fewer people f color living here because of lack of public transportation, minimal entitlements and low stock of public housing…How racist is that? Then we’re called racist for those deficits…If Laurel and Hardy fell into political correctness, these notions would be punch lines in their acts. Inversely, the state of GA has more blacks than whites. What is that all about? Could it possibly be that perhaps black people simply don’t like cold weather? I can truly identify with that notion.

“I can count to Potato…” (Or potatoe) if you like Quayleisms

  • Rick_GraniteGrok

We should be chastising the legislature for being bigoted and making fun of people with Down Syndrome…”I can count to Potato…”
