Media Damage

Introduction:

The main stream media has been involved in an intentional, coordinated act using partisan group think. It has been selling sensational narratives about a target using convenient facts mixed in. We know they are generating propaganda because we have commonsense and use it. Follow me as we stroll through carnage.

Print media:

Print media is in serious trouble financially. This has come about because it purports to report, meaning to convey the facts without spin out bias. Unfortunately, because they are in a state of self-delusion, the purchasers of their product have come to understand their quality control is gone. This is one reason why the money stream is drying up. That and people can get free gossip on their smartphone.

With the end of the special counsel probe, Mueller has delivered his conclusion, there was no Russian collusion. It has become clear what the fiction writers posing as journalists did. They have been doing the bidding of those who wanted to de-legitimatize the Trump Presidency. Bad behavior from partisan sources is to be expected. The greater issue is one the media must recognize and address. It revolves around the nearly complete lack of skepticism by supposedly unbiased “journalists”.

Anyone watching what was going on and using an ounce of commonsense would have stopped to ask questions. Early on in the narrative it was clear the reporting was short on journalistic ethics and the practice of professional tradecraft. Newsrooms were plainly and obviously partisan. The industry’s culture made journalists susceptible to self-deception.

Cable and TV

Story hustlers produced waves of Russia collusion hysteria to the main stream media. All of it it sprung from one predetermined conclusion: “The president is in bed with Vladimir Putin”. The President of the United States was the Manchurian Candidate. Without facts, the President was presumed guilty of treason, Russia collusion. Is this sounding at all like the Kavanaugh hearings? Presumptions of guilt not presumption of innocence, trial in the press not the courtroom, and use of opinions not facts?

The natural disposition of media journalists should be skepticism. Like the man or not, the President is wealthy, a showman, and has been in the public eye for decades. He ran probably the most chaotic national political campaign in history. But he has been harder on Russia than his predecessor ever was. But, there was blind acceptance that he secretly conspired with Russia to steal a national election…

Well, it is a story that was too wild not be investigated seriously and vetted strenuously. Skepticism was called for. If skepticism were used the media would not have bought in, nor would it have allowed the narrative to continue. It was exciting fiction… and maybe it sold… but at what cost?

The biased and once respectable mainstream outlets churned out one deceptive story after another. The debunked pieces hung around. They fostered an environment that allowed the propaganda to fester. Think of all the “reporters” who spun conspiracy stories.

The execution

The Leftist pundits and writers regularly accused the president of incompetence, sedition and of being unworthy of the trust of the American people. Sensational stuff… but was it based in fact? Was it true? And where is the economy? Have there been any international trade changes? Were the campaign promises fulfilled? Is that usual or unusual? Was there reporting on things? What does commonsense tell us about the results versus the accusations?

“News” shows paraded out officials with axes to grind. There was John Brennan, James Clapper, James Comey, Peter Stzrok, and a slew of supposedly credentialed talking heads as experts. They all claimed that the most remarkable conspiracy in American history had transpired. Well, maybe there was a conspiracy. Either way the nation has been harmed. The media’s credibility certainly has been harmed.

There were many false stories. Every time a story was debunked the answer was, “reporters are human and they make mistakes…” Yes but, the blunders were uniformly skewed in the same direction… which defies coincidence.

The harm

These purveyors of information have harmed their ability to expose the actions of the powerful. You see, many Americans have a difficult time believing the media now… and that’s true even when they’re right. By carrying out a propaganda campaign they sold out. They have become a tool of the DNC. Now, the powerful will definitely have an a lot easier time dismissing them. That is a problem for us all.

The media has validated Trump’s assessment of them. Trump now uses the phrase “enemy of the people” to attack the media. It’s undeniable that the media have done more damage to trust in American institutions than the Russians could ever have hoped to do. It is beginning to look like our free press has committed suicide. Trump antagonists, got infected with Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Conclusion

The media used fear of Russia to try to reverse a legitimate election result. They spent two years reporting that Trump did the incredible. At the same time they have not reported on the excesses of the fourth branch of government, the regulatory state, and what it did do. Intentionally, they have remained silent on the President’s accomplishments. Nothing like this has ever happened in modern American history… and it’s not a good thing.
