Huckabee....like Romney? - Granite Grok

Huckabee….like Romney?

You know, I just blogged about a bit of Huckabee’s stance on illegal immigrants here.  Briefly, he was in favor of what I call the DREAM act – putting illegal immigrants ahead of legal citizens for colleges.

Well, I just saw his renewed version of his immigration policy – can you say FLIP-FLOP?

The gentleman that put this together is a guy that has been on our radio show (Meet The New Press), Mark Krikorian, and we have also had others from his Center for Immigration Studies on as well. Both Doug and I are in agreement with all of Mark’s stances.  It secures the border, takes away incentives to come illegally, tries to have local authorities more involved with illegal immigration detection and remediation.  Huckabee tries to throw in the Fair Tax into this mix; I’m not sure it bolsters his argument, but I’m for that anyways, so why not?

However, start thinking black and white difference, as he certainly threw me going the other way on this.  Why such a switch in direction?  Is it because of political calculus?

Time will tell…but I certainly don’t like it when candidates seemingly switch positions when polling gets tight.  With his surging in the polls, his record is going to get more and more scrutiny.  Flaws are going to be detected, and things that have been said in the past are going to rise to the top and contrasted  with current actions and statements.

The Internet – gotta love this memory retaining instrument!  The age of the "we will find it if you spoke or wrote something different in the past" is here.  Pols that do not keep this uppermost will suffer.
