If there’s one thing ‘Grok readers have long known, it’s that former NHGOP chair Fergus Cullen is certainly no friend to conservatives. In the latest example, Cullen heaps praise on the Obama-voting "Republican" Fred Bramante while pouring scorn on NH’s National Committeewoman Phyllis Woods– a GOOD conservative that can always be counted upon to put it into practice. (AND she’s also been a frequent ‘Grok contributor) In a piece promoting a radio program roundtable, Cullen writes at RedHampshire:
Bramante, who has some great ideas about modernizing education, ruffled feathers last fall when he publicly announced his support for Obama…after having attended the Republican National Convention as a Huckabee delegate. Woods is emblematic of the minority mindset, more concerned about ideological purity than broadening the party’s appeal and building winning coalitions. (Emphasis added)
Fergus has some nerve bagging on Phyllis as he does here, given the indisputable fact that HE drove the NHGOP bus into the final ditch it now finds itself. What do moderate Republicans like him have to offer voters? Slightly LESS socialism than the Dems? Ditching social issues, leaving nobody to speak for important values that made this country what it used to be? When candidates run UNABASHEDLY conservative, they sometimes win– except when people of Cullen’s ilk tear them down. I am thankful that, other than the RedHampshire forum, he is no longer in a position to further destroy the party. He should do us all a favor and skulk away quietly into the night…
