Another New Hampshire State Senate “Rat” Jumps Ship

Burning USS Raleigh on NH State FlagNow that they have set the ship of state on fire and sent it rudderless toward the rocky shore, New Hampshire State Senators are finding all sorts of reasons not to run for re-election. ‘I’ve done enough damage,’ would be the honest response but no, instead we get, “I want to spend more time with family.”

The latest “rat” to jump from the burning ship (If I may suggest the USS Raleigh, on the state flag) is Nancy Stiles, the reason we ever had to have a discussion about expanding Medicaid in the Granite State. Had a real Republican been in that seat instead of Stiles this would never have been an issue. Nancy Stiles obsession with ignoring her own party and platform, to carry this water for the Democrats, is why the dumpster-fire that became BradleyCare was even possible. It has since encouraged bad behavior all over the legislature and been reauthorized. Barring a sudden change in direction our burning hull will hit the rocks and sink, taking New Hampshire’s tax advantage with it.

In my opinion, that is all on Stiles. If she was even half of a Real Republican® she’d have stood against it and it would have never had the votes no matter whose plan it was. And Bradley wouldn’t have seen the opening by which he might tether us to additional federal dollars and all the burning hoops and trip-wires that go with that.

Life After Stiles

With Stiles out, Dan Innis has announced he will run to replace her.

Dan is probably an improvement over Nancy Stiles but we’ve got at least one other former congressional candidate with more solid Republican Conservative and liberty credentials who could fill that seat. Pam Tucker.

We don’t often get the chance to build a pro-liberty majority in that chamber.  It would be a shame if we didn’t take a shot for the fences and get a decent liberty candidate in every primary for every open seat. The odds that there will be this many incumbent republican retirees at one time is slim to none.

It may be our last chance to put out these fires and steer away from that rocky shore.

Update: one of the few good State Senators we have is also retiring
