Nashua Teachers Engage in Parades and Unprofessional Behavior

Nashua teachers recently held parades across the city on March 27th, reminding students and parents on just how much they “missed their students.”  These parades were held with taxpayer-funded police escorts. Interesting, isn’t it?

March 27th was the last business day before the school board was to meet to discuss district compensation for the next four weeks. That’s interesting too, isn’t it?

Of course, the union-endorsed school board approved full compensation for district staff, whether essential or non-essential.  The parades worked! Unions are “protected” workers, unlike “non-essential” private employees.  Keene and Manchester have furloughed non-essential city workers. No furloughs needed in Nashua.

Here’s a video of a Broad Street Elementary School parade that teachers held:

Look at the thumbnail picture ridiculing President Trump. These supposedly loving and caring teachers are pretty openly insensitive to residents who support the president. The participants apparently feel that part of their job description is to engage in partisan politics during the school day in front of students who are learning at home due to the Coronavirus.

Thankfully, these teachers are not representative of all teachers. Many teachers are respectful of political differences and sensitive to the economic hard times that residents now face.

But why use this thumbnail picture? Better yet, why aren’t teachers apologizing to the public?

School board policy prohibits teachers from promoting partisan politics.

Educators should refrain from using classroom privileges and prestige to promote partisan or personal politics, sectarian religious views, or flagrant personal bias of any kind.

Nashua Board policy GBEA, Professional Ethics

Broad Street School teacher, Maureen McNeil Patt posted many pictures of her Elementary School’s April parade, including yet another demeaning picture of President Trump.

Ms. Patt is a former NTU (Nashua Teachers Union) President and the NH AFT (American Federation of Teachers), President. Such divisive displays are disgusting, especially during a time that Nashua residents should be coming together. Nothing like encouraging children to be disrespectful of the President of the United States on the taxpayers’ dime.

Way to go, Ms. Patt!  As for me, I say, “Stop the hate!”
