When this COVID-19 circus finally rolls out of town (if it ever does), there will be a number of taglines for this awkward period in US history.
One of them will be “weaponized hypocrisy”. We’ve seen ridiculous levels of hypocrisy from the Left over the past 10 years, especially since Donald Trump got elected. They self-righteously vilify one thing, then proceed to do that very thing, out in the open, no shame. And they get applauded for it!
It’s as if I’m the only person in the world who can see this lie and everyone else is blind or dead. Of course that’s not true.
Andy Biggs (R-AZ) highlighted their “moral relativism”, and I agree. But that’s only half of the picture. Leftists in the spotlight know that their followers will never, ever challenge their lies – in fact, they will ecourage and celebrate them. This includes media outlets at all levels, the entertainment industry (which includes professional sports) and now most large corporations, who have openly shown their hand with their sappy, virtue-signaling “we’re with you” lock-down commercials.
It has become a weapon, where they rebuke the Right for doing one thing and simultaneously celebrate the Left for doing the very same thing – and tell you how to live your life at the same time.
The variant of this is the “inside-out hypocrisy”, where they declare something as “evil” but do an about-face on the subject when it suits their narrative.
