White House Pulls No Punches:
Blames Hamas For Rioters’ Deaths

Israel is 70 years old, and America is finally moving her Embassy to Jerusalem. Soon, it will be the 70th anniversary of “Nakba”, the disaster caused by Arab nations instigating an uprising and declaring war against the birth of Israel in 1948, and then abandoning those insurgents when Israel won the war and drove out the troublemakers.

To “Palestinians,” “Nakba” is when Israel drove them out of lands which were rightfully theirs, but the real disaster is that the Arab nations which encouraged their uprising, and promised aid and support, offered no such aid or support once Israel repelled their attack. Instead of welcoming in their Arab brethren, the same nations which offered to help them drive out the Jews, left those brethren to languish in refugee camps adjacent to Israel, and in turn, those refugees allowed themselves to be ruled over by kleptocratic, tyrannical, terrorists like Yasser Arafat and Mahmoud Abbas. The “Palestinian” leaders have made no attempt to actually govern, or to use the plentiful foreign aid to foster economic development, but instead have fostered resentment, terrorism, and acts of war against Israel and her people.

gaza_nakba_2018 Thus, as the 70th anniversary of the self-inflicted “Nakba” approaches, and Trump delivered on what other presidents have merely promised – an embassy in Jerusalem, Hamas encouraged civilians to protest at, and attempt to rush, the Israeli border. Peaceful protests? These are even more violent than a mob of leftist agitators at a G7 conference. Just listen to this description:

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinian protesters launched the “Great March of Return” six weeks ago, storming the Israeli border along the Gaza Strip. Demonstrators set fires, planted explosives, and threw rocks at Israeli soldiers, who returned fire with guns from the other side of the fence. The protests reached a head on Monday as the U.S. opened its new embassy in Jerusalem, with at least 52 killed including a 14-year-old boy.

Hamas is perfectly willing to put its civilians’ lives at risk in the name of making war on Israel, and the Israelis went to some lengths, dropping leaflets warning civilians of the risks before trouble actually started. Naturally, a violent attempt to storm the border is going to result in a proportionate response to repulse said attempt. The White House did not equivocate like prior Administrations, nor blame Israel first like European Anti-Semites (and Obama), but placed the blame squarely on Hamas, the organization fomenting the violence:

“The responsibility for these tragic deaths rests squarely with Hamas,” White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah told reporters at the daily press briefing.
“Hamas is intentionally and cynically provoking this response,” Shah said. “Israel has the right to defend itself.”
