One Of These Senators Has More Courage Than The Other

The list of GOP senators opposing even having a debate on Harry Reid’s Gun Control People Control bill has grown to 14, and was most famously joined by Mitch McConnell this week, showing the courage which has sometimes been absent during the financial brinkmanship. The List of senators vowing a filibuster before the bill even comes to the floor are (The Blaze):

Joining Kentucky Sens. Paul and McConnell are Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Mike Lee (R-Utah), James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Richard Burr (R-N.C.), Mike Enzi (R-Wy.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Jerry Moran (R-Kans.), Pat Roberts (R-Kans.), Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Dan Coats (R-Ind.) and Mike Crapo and James Risch of Idaho.

On the other hand, eight GOP Senators see no harm in allowing a floor debate and vote on the bill, suggesting the debate is good (like it hasn’t been raging for the last four months), and they can always stop the bill after debate if they don’t like the amended version. Apparently these suckers have never heard of the danger in letting the genie out of the bottle, especially the “usual suspect” from Maine, who is busy polishing the genie’s lamp! The list of those willing to risk our rights, from WaPo:

Hanging out with the wrong crowd. Again.
Hanging out with the wrong crowd. Again.
Thus far, at least eight GOP senators — John McCain (Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Mark Kirk (Ill.), Johnny Isakson (Ga.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), Kelly Ayotte (N.H.) and Susan Collins (Maine) — have said they will not join in a filibuster being planned by a handful of the party’s more conservative senators.

Collins is most directly tied to the bill, as she is co-sponsoring the gun trafficking and school safety provisions.

So, folks, betcha thought our steely prosecutor would stand up for us, and your weren’t so sure about the chinless wonder from Kentucky – Fooled ya! McConnell’s coming through for the 2nd amendment up front, while Ayotte will claim, after the bill gets away from her, that “we didn’t have a majority”. Perhaps she’s never heard of Samuel Adams?

It does not take a majority to prevail… but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men. (Samuel Adams)

Here at the Grok, we LIKE setting brushfires in the minds of men!
