Context:
“The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified.”
– President Barack Obama, Inauguration, 1/20/09
Let’s start with the worst:
Gov’t $15.6T in Debt Funds 16 Programs to Teach Citizens ‘Financial Literacy’
This headline is actually good – pointing out the fallacy that a government in such dire financial straits is actually capable of teaching others something it is not. The fact that such a headline (from CNSNews) can be written is the real bad thing.
The best line is akin to this – from Instapundit, a tremendous skewering of the main underpinning of Progressivism: government is ALWAYS competent:
If the Federal Government can’t stop the President’s bodyguards from drinking and whoring, what can we trust it to do?
As Glen says “indeed!”. A very important function for the Government to do – protect the President (and other V.I.P.s). Letting prostitutes into a room where the security plans for the President’s visit is not “competency” – “but whether it works“.
Hmmm. Upon reflection, they are both good at pointing out the bad. That, is bad. And this Progressive President isn’t working either.
