Hello November…we’ve been waiting for you for a very long time, and we are ready.
We’ve been working hard, many of us since September 2009, some of us even longer. We wrote, emailed, faxed, and called our members of Congress, even though we were ignored. We went to protests and rallies, and screamed our lungs out. We ran for office. We volunteered for or ran campaigns that began in the late days of 2009 or the early days of 2010. We blogged, we read, and we studied the issues – we are the most informed citizenry our country has seen in a long time. We talked to friends, family, and neighbors. In our exuberance, we made many new friends, and we lost some.
We stuck our necks out, withstood scorn and ridicule, contributed our hard-earned money, and sacrificed valuable time away from work, home, and family to help make a difference – which we believe did.
We changed the discussion, and set the new agenda. We are giving our country another chance.
Now, our time has come, and in less than 48 hours our hard work will bear fruit, and we will have a good sense for who will represent our districts and our states. The celebration will be massive and sweet – but short-lived, as there is still much work to be done.
